RHCC offers two Dragon Boat programs – An In-house RHCC Dragon Boat Team Program and a Dragon Boat Rental Program for Teams.

The In-House Team Program provides individuals 15 and older, with some to no experience in the sport, the opportunity to form a team.

The Dragon Boat Rental Program offers corporate, high school or community teams the opportunity to rent our Dragon Boat and equipment for their practices or event from early May until late September.

IN-HOUSE RHCC DRAGON BOAT TEAM

If you are interested in trying out the sport of Dragon Boating, or already have some experience in the sport, you may sign up for 6 consecutive 1-hour, weekly sessions in the Spring at a cost of $150 or 7 consecutive 1-hour, weekly sessions in the Summer at a cost of $160 (OR BOTH!) and become part of an RHCC Wilcox Warriors team! Our Spring session commences in late May, and the Summer session starts the middle of July.

You and your teammates will be taught basic strokes, as well as safety and teamwork skills and by course end will be equipped with the necessary skills to paddle confidently, as part of a crew, in a recreational team setting.  An end-of-course 2-day regatta is included in the cost. Your certified instructor’s focus is on safety, skill development and fun!

Lessons take place on beautiful Lake Wilcox, and all necessary equipment including paddles and mandatory Canada-approved PFDs will be provided.

DRAGON FLYS!

Dragon Flys is a brand new program for kids 6-8 years of age and their parents! It is designed to provide a child with an introduction to paddling in a safe and stable Dragon Boat with the added security of a parent beside her/him.

Over 5 weeks of one-hour sessions, paddlers are taught basic paddling strokes, safety skills, and how to work as a team, all with an emphasis on FUN!

All necessary equipment, including paddles and mandatory Canada-Approved PFDs are provided.

At the completion of the program, 8 year-old children may choose to enroll in our Canoe Kids program!

  • 1000 meters of water and beautiful scenery
  • a BUC dragon boat

RENTAL COST AND AVAILABILITY:

  • $115 per hour for one to ten sessions
  • $105 per hour for eleven or more sessions
  • A one-time team charge of $90 to cover insurance
  • Practices run from May to October, weather depending
  • Team coaching available – inquire for rates

DRAGON BOAT RENTAL FOR TEAMS​

Need some training time for your corporate, high school or community team? Or simply looking for a teambuilding activity? We have a Dragon Boat available for rental!

Dragon boat training and racing is a fun and physical way to promote a healthy lifestyle, teamwork and camaraderie for your group.

A Dragon boat practice group can consist of a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 20 paddlers. In addition, there is a Cox (the person who steers) and there can be a Drummer as well, to beat out the paddling pace. Don’t have a Cox?  We have our own RHCC Dragon boat cox/coach.
